THE INSPIRATION
Let me just say, this Soft Deco collection has been a long time coming, and I’m so excited that it’s finally here. And it couldn’t have come at a better time, as the most lovely parts of Springtime outdoors are mirrored inside, with the sagey, pink color and natural shapes of Soft Deco-inspired design.
Inspiration first hit as I began seeing sage and peach everywhere, a big flashback to my '80s childhood. But I wanted it to be better this time, and much more muted (than the coral my parents painted our childhood family room). These colors look so good next to the neutral, textured pieces that GP is known for. I also began noticing the recurrence of rounded furniture. So I thought yes, give me all the overstuffed, curvy furniture, but this time with a cleaner, more modern shape. And once I saw architecturally stunning arches slowly beginning to reclaim their (well deserved!) place in center stage on Instagram and Pinterest , I knew it was comeback time for what we are referring to as Soft Deco.
This collection is sophisticated, but also feels playful and funky, quiet and cozy all at the same time, which I think strikes the perfect balance.
As I began to source product for this collection, I was inspired by bits and pieces - In the green onyx marble of interior spaces, by the lush vibrance of Floridian tropicals. I found myself obsessing over the interior design at Brisbane's acclaimed Calile Hotel. (If you haven’t already stalked @thecalilehotel on Instagram, I encourage you to check it out ASAP!)
